Back again - for the 5th time! As many of you know from my past blogs...I have struggled with the age old question, "To blog, or not to blog". The first time I visited South East Asia (4 months in China, Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia) I blogged every night. It averaged about 1.5 hours, which I actually enjoyed. It allowed me an "excuse" for the introvert in me to take some "me" time. I also enjoyed using my blogs as a way to reflect on my day. And now, it is SO fun to look back and read over everything...93% of which I have forgotten!
However, as the years have gone by, I have found blogging to be a pest. I find (myself included) we are such a culture of documenting everything. Let me post this picture on instragram, let me post this status on Facebook, etc. etc. I felt I was somewhat "missing out" or too worried about capturing pictures or writing down things that happened that I wasn't living in the moment, especially with the kids. I think its even more hard since those reading don't exactly know or understand what we are doing, so i want to take pictures and document everything so you can experience it too. I'm not exactly sure what I have said above, but what I am trying to say is this:
I am excited and ready to blog for this trip. I made no promises - and will put no pressure on myself. If I blog, I blog. And if I don't, I don't!
My hope is that you, while not physically in Vietnam, can share in the love and excitement of the children. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to be able to spend a week with them - and I hope, through my words and pictures, you can see how very special they are :)
